  • Understand environmental and personal risk factors for heat illness.
  • Understanding of the different types of heat illnesses, the symptoms of each, and reporting procedures.
  • Discuss heat illness prevention including water, shade, rest breaks, and first aid.
  • Understand acclimatization and reducing the impact of high temperatures, including “high heat” procedures.
  • Understand how to work with emergency medical services if a heat illness occurs.
  • Understand supervisor responsibilities including actions to take if an employee has a heat illness, emergency response procedures, and monitoring local weather requirements.
