ABOUT THE POSITION

Bizhaven hires Safety subject matter experts to join our Client Service Team. As a Safety Business Partner, you will partner with Bizhaven clients to promote and ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations. Throughout each week you will visit client job sites to perform workplace inspections, identify occupational hazards, audit personal protective equipment, and review and update policies and postings. You will showcase your expertise by proactively identifying and creating reasonable solutions to maintain a healthy and safe workplace culture and keeping clients up to date with Cal/OSHA & OSHA regulations.

Salary Range: The salary range for our Business Partners is $75,000-$125,000 (depending on position level).

THE DAY-TO-DAY

  • Conduct client hazard assessments and on-site audits to identify exposures and make recommendations to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and illnesses.
  • Conduct employee and supervisor level training on applicable safety standards, based on clients’ needs.
  • Review safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to assess client compliance with safety regulations.
  • Draft and assist the client in implementing safety programs and policies.
  • Analyze client injury and illness data to identify trends and determine safety training and/or program/policy priorities and to produce meaningful reports and recommendations to minimize risk.
  • Work independently to provide on-site/virtual Health and Safety support
  • Communicate with clients and people of varying levels of professionalism, education, etc.
  • Accurately understand clients’ needs and build relationships
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required for the Position

  • Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Federal and California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) standards.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels
  • Demonstrate good judgment and foresight, moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice and desire to help when dealing with people
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a fierce attention to detail.
  • Ability to conduct training.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field required. Experience may be used to fulfill the education requirement. We prefer at least one year of related experience.
  • Ability to travel throughout facility to conduct safety inspections. (indoor/outdoor) – agriculture (fields), construction jobsites, manufacturing facilities – multiple industries and environments.
  • Valid CA driver’s license and current vehicle insurance/registration
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides clients with appropriate recommendations on the administration of safety policies and procedures.
  • Serves as internal consultant by analyzing a company’s current safety programs and recommending solutions.
  • Develops, revises, and implements safety policies and procedures for bizhaven clients.
  • Ensures client safety programs are in compliance with established policies and procedures and state/federal laws and regulations.
  • Prepares and maintains data related to specific safety projects.
  • Conducts audits of safety activities and programs to ensure compliance.
  • Presents training sessions related to specific safety programs, including IIPP, IDP, EAP, and Fire Prevention Plan.
  • Maintains an assigned Book of Business, ensuring consistent, quality service for each client.
  • Assists with the development and coordination of recommended changes regarding workflow.
  • Identifies gaps in procedures and assists with creation of internal safety related SOPs.
  • Assists with updating client programs, new hire orientations, and other materials as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Experience in Safety Business Partner position or applicable experience.
  • High level of self-confidence with exceptional communication skills and ability to influence.
  • Advanced organizational skills and ability to successfully navigate ever-changing priorities.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge. Sound judgment and problem-solving skills – experience necessary to understand what solutions have worked in the past and how to improve upon past mistakes.
  • Ability to explain ideas and concepts in a simplified manner to clients.
  • Ability to improvise – foresee and implement multiple solutions to clients.
  • Excellent listening skills – ability to carefully listen to the needs of clients as to implement safety solutions that address specific business needs.

  • Must possess a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain and maintain auto liability/property damage insurance in compliance with bizhaven company requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safey & Health or related discipline preferred.
  • 5+ Years of safety experience, including safety consulting preferred.
  • Professional designation in Safety (CSP, ASP, GSP, CHST, OHST, STSC, STS, etc.) preferred.
  • Understanding of safety best practices, including up to date knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, DOT, and other safety-related laws and regulations.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Specialized training in specific safety areas – Construction, General Industry, DOT, Worker’s Compensation, etc
